Twin River from Rhode Island is expecting the help of the government. They have a bag financial situation by expanding gambling in Lincoln. In this issue, lawmakers are trying to force their decision on Twin River.
The Twin River racetrack will have to expand their greyhound racing schedule even if they are fighting with their financial problems. It means now that more racing is coming to Twin River.
Now, they will have the opportunity to offer gambling 24 hours per day. At the moment, they could do this only on holidays or in weekends.
The spokeswoman for the Rhode Island Greyhound Owners association, Jennifer Bramley, said that they have ordered their lawmakers for choosing to protect jobs and taxpayer revenue instead of lining the pockets of big banks.
The Twin River’s owners have already filed for bankruptcy protection. In the same time the owners think that expanding the gambling hours is a way how they can make up some revenues that jave been lost due to the recession.
Rhode Island is considered to be one of the states that had thought the gambling expanding could a solution. Lawmakers could not agree on a way to expand gambling, so this problem has been shelved.
