Russian Government Has Decided To Close All Casinos

Following the Russian Government’s decision to close all casinos event European Poker Tour has had to make some changes in the timetable being moved to Kiev and start date of the event will be on August 17-23.

Russian government has excluded all kinds of sports which means that gambling became forbidden in Russia, which created a big problem for poker players.

These are trying days for the employees from the casinos. One official from a California tribal casino has now been arrested on charges of theft. Because he used a corporate credit card for personal use.

The employeed is Jeff Livingston and was the general manager at the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino when he started using his corporate credit card to purchase personal items. This person ran up $27,000 in debt on the card. His purchases included a vacation to Hawaii and a down payment on a new car.

The economy has taken its toll on the casino gambling industry all over the world. In the US, the economy is just one factor in casinos‘ declining revenue.

Also in Atlantic City, revenue has been slashed by double digits for each of the past several months.

Atlantic City Casinos Prepare For Strike?

Dealers at two Atlantic City casinos have voted in favor of striking. The casinos have said that they will be hiring replacement dealers when the strike occurs.

J. Carlos Tolosa, eastern regional President of Harrah’s Entertainment said: “There are 14,000 employees in Atlantic City who rely on Harrah’s for their livelihood, and we are not going to let the misguided tactics of the UAW interfere with our guests or the employees who are working hard to keep Atlantic City competitive this summer.”

Dealers authorized strikes at Caesars Atlantic City and Bally’s Atlantic City this past weekend. Workers at the Tropicana Casino and Resort have already authorized a strike in previous months.

Dealers joining a union is something new to Atlantic City casinos. While other casino workers have been unionized for years, dealers have just recently started to be approached by the UAW. Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino dealers also have unionized, but they have yet to vote on a strike.

Bwin Extends The Contract With MotoGP Sponsorship

Bwin has signed a deal with Dorna Sports SL to continue its sponsorship of MotoGP through the 2010 season.

The agreement extends Bwin’s partnership with the premiere motorcycle racing tour, which began in 2004.

Pau Serracanta, Managing Director for Dorna Sports said: “During the years of our partnership, Bwin has proven to be a significant and reliable partner for MotoGP with lots of drive and innovation, no question, Bwin provides MotoGP with extra horsepower.”.

Bwin revealed that prominent branding would also be included on the podium, in the press conference areas and television interview backdrops while it will continue as the title sponsor of the Gran Premio De Espana race from Jerez and the Grande Premio De Portugal from Estoril.

The firm will have an important presence at the Grand Prix Ceske Pububliky from Brno and the Grand Prix Di Rimini from Misano.
